The players are tasked by the Darkwater Adventurer’s Guild to intercept a magical artifact sought by Lord Bartolomeu III. It is being delivered by pirates to a sea cave north of Darkwater

The brave heroes infiltrate the goblin sea cave, battle a cave bear, almost get eaten by a mimic, and run away.

We learn that the artifact is a “Crown of Ultimate Evil”, and has its own intelligence.

Morgatha bleeds out, choosing not to pledge itself to the evil intelligence inside the crown.

From the game:

There are three locked chests

  • the one on the left is ornate with a complex clockwork lock
  • the one on the right has lock that looks like a skull and is carved from scrimshaw
  • the one in the center looks very normal, like standard, as if it is a typical boring lock direct from a treasure chest catalog.

Garrett - “that one’s definitely a mimic”

Jason - “naw, I try to open the center one”
